In 2026, the city of Osh will receive 100 million soms for greening.

This information was announced by Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev on February 5 during a meeting with residents of the Manas-Ata district.

During the report on the work completed last year, he emphasized that many trees are in critical condition and need to be replaced.

“The trees are very old. Some bloggers and our sisters ask the question: ‘Why are you cutting down trees without planting new ones?’ We have already done this by planting quality saplings. But a tree does not grow as quickly as a child; it needs time to grow. 95% of the planted trees have taken root,” noted the mayor.

According to him, this year, 100 million soms will be allocated from the city budget. These funds will be used for the removal of old poplars, junipers, and other types of trees, which will be replaced with new ones.

Additionally, Toktorbaev pointed out the age of the trees along the road leading to the airport, which are also 70-80 years old.

“Starting from March 1, we will begin the complete removal of old trees in the middle of the road. In their place, we will plant modern, expensive roses, and the area will be designed in a new way. The installation of LED screens and a large stele is planned, which will give everything a modern look,” he added.

According to the city hall, the greening process will be carried out in stages, adhering to all environmental standards.

It was previously reported that in the area of the municipal administration "Sulaiman-Too" in Osh, it is planned to plant expensive saplings brought from Italy, each costing 140-150 dollars.

In March 2025, 100 saplings of red-leaved maple and blue spruces were planted in Osh, each costing between 200 and 250 dollars. However, not all red-leaved maple saplings took root.
