This year, the modernization of electrical networks will begin in the Issyk-Kul region. The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic announced plans to replace more than two thousand old wooden poles with new reinforced concrete ones.
According to the agency, the wooden poles that will be replaced were installed back in the 1960s and 70s and have long exceeded their allowable service life, being in an emergency state.
The work to replace the poles is planned in various district electrical network enterprises (RES) and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2026. In particular, it is planned to install:
- 258 poles in the Ak-Suu RES
- 260 poles in the Karakol RES
- 263 poles in the Jeti-Oguz RES
- 543 poles in the Ton RES
- 314 poles in the Cholpon-Ata RES
- 229 poles in the Tyup RES
- 282 poles in the Balakchy RES
It is worth noting that in 2025, more than 1500 reinforced concrete poles were installed, which significantly updated the outdated infrastructure in several settlements in the region. The new poles that will be installed in 2026 will be produced at the company's own factory that manufactures reinforced concrete products.
