According to information from local authorities, on February 12, an order was given to the heads of the relevant services to start work on the improvement of the abandoned hospital area, which had long been unattended.
As part of these activities, work is being carried out on cleaning up debris, dismantling illegally installed fences and temporary structures, as well as putting the entire area in order.
The Municipal Property Management of the city of Osh is responsible for the cleanup of abandoned buildings and dilapidated walls. As reported by the head of the department, Zhaksylik Toktogonov, these sites are under the management of his agency.
“The land belongs to the municipal management. The question of what exactly will be built on this site and for what purposes remains open for now. The total area is about 60 acres. This includes plots that we obtained through the court, as well as those for which legal proceedings are still ongoing,” he noted.
For a long time, a city hospital operated in this location, providing medical services to local residents. However, due to the deteriorating condition of the building, the medical facility was relocated to another site.
Today, a seven-story clinic of Osh State University is being built on this territory. At the same time, Zhaksylik Toktogonov clarified that the area where the demolition and cleanup work is taking place does not fall within the area of the future clinic.
