The demolition of the roof of the "Kristall" hotel has begun in Osh.

As reported by Mirlan Kazybay uulu, the head of the city municipal property management, the roof demolition is organized by the building's owner.

“The hotel was built within the 15-meter protected zone of the river. We negotiated with the owner, and he agreed to provide another plot of land as compensation,” he noted.
According to current legislative requirements, the protected water zone of channels ranges from 6 to 50 meters on each side. For example, the protected water zone of the Moyun, Zhany-Aryk, and Zhoo-Bas channels is 6 meters, while the Ak-Buura river is 50 meters. The protected strip of the Uvam canal is 30 meters (on each side).

Turmush reported in mid-October that the city municipal property management of Osh began the demolition of the "Kristall" hotel and multi-story buildings at the addresses of A. Navoi Street No. 33 and No. 19.

According to information from the municipality, demolition work has already begun on site, and some elements of the buildings were destroyed using heavy machinery. Soon after, residents and employees of the "Kristall" hotel began to take their belongings out onto the street.

Despite official warnings, the building owners continued their activities. The demolition is being carried out based on a conclusion indicating that the structures were built within the 50-meter protected zone of the river, where construction is prohibited.

Earlier, on September 10, at the XIII session of the Osh city council, Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev had already announced plans for the demolition of the "Kristall" hotel.

The hotel is located at A. Navoi Street, 50a, where the "Beksultan" and "Shokolad" markets were previously located, which have been relocated to a new site on Bekmamata Osmonova Street, and the old buildings have been demolished.
Previously, local authorities reported that despite the hotel being built in the protected water zone, it continued to operate. Earlier, the "Beksultan" and Chocolate markets were located on this site, which were moved to a new market on Bekmamata Osmonova Street.

Additionally, in the same area, there are multi-story buildings at A. Navoi Street, 33 and 19. The owner of the building at Navoi Street, 19 was identified as the former vice-mayor of Osh, now auditor of the Accounts Chamber of Kyrgyzstan, Alimzhan Baigazakov.

Turmush previously reported that the demolition of buildings near the "Beksultan" and Chocolate markets and in the area of the old bus station had begun in the city of Osh.

During one of the morning raids, Osh Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, noticing these buildings, gave an order for their urgent demolition. At that time, it was about the demolition of a four-story building, owned by Alimzhan Baigazakov.

However, the "Kristall" hotel, located near the "Dostuk" bridge and built in the protected water zone, was not discussed during this raid.

Turmush previously raised the issue of the demolition of illegal constructions in the area of the "Beksultan" and "Shokolad" markets, where, according to official data, over 2000 trading points were illegally established. The municipality plans to transform this area into a park.
