The authorities promise to create a new park and kindergarten in place of the demolished garages
A large-scale demolition of garages has begun in Bishkek.
The demolition will affect more than 1,400 structures.
Many garage owners are dissatisfied and claim that the city authorities did not notify them about the upcoming demolition. In turn, representatives of the municipality assert that warnings were issued in advance and emphasized the need to free up land owned by the city.
The demolition work is being carried out on Repina and Patrice Lumumba streets.
The Bishkek City Hall stated that a new kindergarten and green space will be created where the garages were demolished.
