The performance is based on the story by Dostoevsky with the same title.
From November 7 to 9 at 19:00, the premiere of the play "Uncle's Dream" will take place at the A. Umuraliev Bishkek City Drama Theater, created based on the well-known work of F. M. Dostoevsky. This was reported by the capital's mayor's office.
The production is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the organization "Russian Seasons".
"Uncle's Dream" is a masterfully reworked provincial anecdote by Dostoevsky that reveals a whole gallery of characters and morals typical of the province. It is one of the most vivid satirical works of the writer, in which he ruthlessly demonstrates the hypocrisy and despotism masked by grandiloquent words.
This play, aimed at a family audience, has become an important cultural event that unites different generations, awakens interest in reading, and encourages reflections on eternal values such as love, beauty, and human dignity. It contains much grotesque and farce, and the characters are portrayed vividly and eccentrically.
The director of the play is Ulanmyrza Karypbaev, the set designer is Sadyr Niyzakunov, the costume designer is Zukhra Mukambetova, and the choreographer is Rezeda Gayanova from St. Petersburg.
