On February 15, an event was held in Kara-Balta dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The celebration began with a procession that moved from the Jayil State Administration to the memorial for internationalist soldiers located in the lower park of the city. Participants in the memorial ceremony included Afghan war veterans from the Jayil district, representatives of local authorities, leaders of various organizations, and concerned citizens.

At the memorial, traditional activities took place: laying of flowers, a moment of silence, and a salute in honor of the fallen, which have become an important part of the annual events.

Speakers emphasized that over 7,000 Kyrgyz servicemen fulfilled their international duty for ten years, many of whom displayed exceptional courage and resilience while defending peace and carrying out orders.

Today, there are 145 veterans of the Afghan war living in the Jayil district, for whom this date is not just a memorial day, but a sign of respect for their combat comrades, service, and the trials they endured.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where Afghan veterans were presented with certificates of honor from the akimat, the mayor's office of Kara-Balta, and the military commissariat.
