A rally-requiem was held in Bishkek for the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan







Today, in Bishkek, at the Ata-Turk Park, a rally-requiem was held at the monument to internationalist soldiers, dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

According to the city hall's website, the event began with the laying of flowers at the memorial.

Among the participants were the mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Kulmurzaev, the defense attaché at the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Igor Dovbnya, as well as representatives of veteran organizations, military personnel, public figures, and residents of the capital.

The participants of the rally honored the memory of the fallen by laying flowers at the monument. Speakers discussed how the Afghan war left a heavy mark on the fates of thousands of families and the history of the country.

Speaking to those gathered, Mayor Aybek Junushaliev noted that February 15 is a day when we honor memory, courage, and unity.

“We bow our heads in respect for the feats of the fallen and express our gratitude to the veterans who fulfilled their duty with honor. The municipality will continue to support Afghan veterans, widows, and families of the deceased. Your resilience and courage serve as an example for future generations and are an important part of our history,” said the mayor of the capital.

Deputy Minister of Defense Almazbek Kulmurzaev also emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and thanked the veterans for their bravery and loyalty to their duty.

The rally-requiem concluded with the laying of flowers and words of gratitude to the internationalist soldiers, whose names will forever remain in the memory of the people.
