Doctors remind about the importance of vaccinating children against measles, mumps, and rubella

The Republican Center for Strengthening Health and Mass Communication of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic once again reminds that measles is a highly contagious viral infection transmitted through respiratory droplets.

The disease is transmitted from an infected person, and the unvaccinated, who have had even brief contact with the carrier of the infection, are particularly vulnerable.

As part of the vaccination schedule in the Kyrgyz Republic, it is stipulated that children receive the MMR vaccine at the age of 12 months and a booster at 2 years. This vaccination protects against measles, mumps, and rubella.

Measles, mumps, and rubella are viral diseases that spread easily through coughing and sneezing. Although the external manifestations of these infections may resemble a cold, they are also accompanied by characteristic rashes and painful swellings.

Children who have missed the MMR vaccination are especially at risk during outbreaks of these diseases.
