The Great Patriotic War. The Feats of the Warriors from Kyrgyzstan

The Great Patriotic War. The feats of Kyrgyz warriors

The Beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

In 1939, fascist Germany unleashed World War II. In a short time, it occupied many European countries. Strengthening its military potential even further, Germany aimed to conquer world domination and enslave the peoples of the entire planet.

At dawn on June 22, 1941, the German-fascist invaders violated the Soviet border and suddenly invaded the peaceful territory of the Soviet Union.

Thus began the bloody Great Patriotic War. The news of the treacherous attack by the fascists was met with outrage by the multinational Soviet people. In all villages and cities of Kyrgyzstan, rallies were held. The participants pledged: “We will die, but we will defend our Motherland!” People of different nationalities and ages gathered at military enlistment offices, demanding to be sent to the front.

Already in the first days of the war, Kyrgyz soldiers who were serving in the army, like other warriors of the Red Army, entered into battle with the fascist invaders.

The Brest Fortress. One of the first to take the brunt of the enemy's powerful strike. Many soldiers, commanders, their wives, and children perished in the very first minutes of the war under the blows of fascist artillery and aviation, not even understanding what had happened. Those who survived stood to the death. For more than a month, the warriors of the small garrison held the fortress. Among them was the Kyrgyz soldier V. Furtsov.

On July 10, 1941, during the defense of the village of Borisovo in Belarus, the Kyrgyz soldier N. Dmitriev performed a feat for which he was one of the first to be awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

The Panfilovtsy. One of the first to go to the front was the 316th Rifle Division, formed in Kyrgyzstan by the decision of the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The division consisted of natives of these republics — Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians, and representatives of other nationalities. It was commanded by Major General I. V. Panfilov, the former military commissar of Kyrgyzstan. Already in November 1941, the division participated in the heroic defense of Moscow. In these battles for the capital, the warriors of the division halted the advance of the enemy, who outnumbered them by four times. Holding their positions, the Panfilovtsy destroyed several fascist divisions over the course of a month. For their demonstrated resilience and courage, the division was awarded the Guards title and received the Order of the Red Star. In these battles, I. Panfilov was killed. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and the division was named after him.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 28 warriors of the Panfilov Division. Among them were Kyrgyz soldiers — Duyshenkul Shopokov, Nikolay Ananyev, Grigory Konkin, Grigory Shemyakin, Ivan Moskalenko and others.

Duyshenkul ShopokovDuyshenkul Shopokov

The brave son of the Kyrgyz people D. Shopokov became the first Kyrgyz — Hero of the Soviet Union. Severely wounded in battle, Duyshenkul, taking a bundle of grenades, rushed under a fascist tank and blew it up.

The feat of Cholponbay Tuleberdiev. August 1942. Fierce battles are taking place on the banks of the Don River, south of the city of Voronezh.

From an enemy pillbox located on the high opposite bank, the fascists are firing continuously. This does not allow Soviet troops to advance. The desperate commander turns to the soldiers: “Who will destroy the pillbox?” “I will go!” — stepped forward the brave Kyrgyz warrior Cholponbay. Under a hail of bullets, he swam across the Don. Reaching the shore, Cholponbay crawled up to the pillbox. He threw one, two, three grenades. The pillbox continued to pour fire on the Soviet soldiers. Suddenly, an enemy bullet hit Cholponbay, and he was severely wounded. What to do? The task must be completed at all costs. Gathering his last strength, Cholponbay rises and throws himself at the pillbox, covering the enemy embrasure with his body. Choked, the machine gun fell silent. The Soviet troops rushed to attack...

Deserved Reward. Artillery gunner Dair Asanov participated in the battles for the defense of Stalingrad. In January 1943, he accurately destroyed first a tank, then a mortar battery and an enemy company. On March 23, he and his comrades were fighting for the village of Pyatnitskoye near Kharkov. Eight enemy tanks, followed by automatic riflemen, attacked D. Asanov's artillery crew. In battle, the sergeant knocked out 3 tanks; the others turned back. For half an hour, the enemies continuously bombed and shelled D. Asanov's position with artillery. Then they launched a new attack. In this battle, which lasted four hours, Dair Asanov destroyed 8 tanks, 6 armored vehicles, and 40 fascists. For this feat, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Rare Valor. In the battle for the Caucasus, platoon commander Akun Sadyrbaev displayed unprecedented bravery and agility. He caught one after another 16 flying enemy grenades and sent them back — to the enemy. The last, 17th grenade exploded in his hands and took the life of the hero.

Aerial Duel. This occurred on March 18, 1944, in Estonia, 20 kilometers from the city of Narva. During an air battle, a bullet hit the plane of Kyrgyz pilot Ismailbek Taranchiev, a native of the village of Besh-Kungey in the Alamudun district. The aircraft caught fire. With steady hands, he directed the burning plane towards a fascist fuel depot. Two enemy fuel tanks and 6 tanks exploded in the air.

For a long time, this feat remained unknown. Only in May 1991 did the Kyrgyz people learn of the feat of their son. For courage and heroism, Ismailbek Taranchiev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The Gold Star of the Hero was presented to his relatives. Local residents, witnesses of the warrior's feat, still bring flowers to his grave.

Contribution to Victory. The 660th and 664th night bomber aviation regiments from Kyrgyzstan actively participated in the liberation of Soviet land from enemies. The brave pilot from Kyrgyzstan, Hero of the Soviet Union Yevdokiya Pasko, flew 780 night bombing missions. In total, she dropped 93 tons of bombs on the enemy. After her precise hits on target, 109 important enemy objects were destroyed.

Participation in the Storming of Berlin. The political officer of the battalion Kaliynur Usenbekov on February 14, 1945, in hand-to-hand combat, destroyed seven fascists and captured two. For excellent performance of an important task, Lieutenant K. Usenbekov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. On April 16, 1945, the storming of the main fascist stronghold — Berlin — began.

After a long, massive artillery bombardment, the Soviet troops launched an attack. K. Usenbekov's battalion was one of the first to enter Berlin and participated in the storming of the town hall. For the valor displayed in this operation, K. Usenbekov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. Currently, General K. Usenbekov heads the Council of War Veterans of Kyrgyzstan.

Our compatriots — pilot-navigator, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Talgat Begeldinov and battalion commander Hero of the Soviet Union V. Belyandr — displayed exceptional valor in the battle for Berlin.

Soviet people fought valiantly in the Great Patriotic War, defending their freedom and independence. Over 300,000 Kyrgyz soldiers fought for their Motherland as part of the multinational Red Army.

More than 10,000 of them were awarded orders and medals for military valor. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 76 Kyrgyz soldiers, and the title of full cavalier, i.e., awarded three degrees of the Order of Glory, was given to 21 soldiers. More than 80,000 Kyrgyz soldiers perished defending their Motherland, their people. Their memory will live forever.
