In Bishkek, all defects found on newly repaired roads will be addressed at the expense of the contractors. This was reported by Abdyzhaparkul Janbolotov, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the City Hall, in an interview on Birinchi Radio.
Janbolotov noted that contractors bear certain responsibility for the quality of the work performed. "We always mention contractors, and this is not accidental. Our contracts explicitly state that any identified deficiencies must be corrected at the contractor's expense. Although, of course, the department also bears responsibility for the quality of the roads we accept," he clarified.
According to him, a laboratory operates in the city hall, and each project is assigned a licensed technical supervision that is responsible for quality control.
"We check not only the asphalt but also all stages of road construction, such as the foundation, curb installation, and even the strength of bridges. All of this is subject to inspection. Despite some shortcomings, contractors are required to address them," he added.
The deputy director also reminded that under the new legislation, the warranty period for completed work has been extended to three years instead of the previous one year. This means that in case defects are identified, contractors will have to correct them within three years at their own expense.
