During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Saltanat Amanova emphasized the importance of comprehensive support for journalists, including addressing housing issues and increasing their salaries.
She noted that media workers play a crucial role in providing society with reliable information; however, their financial situation remains unsatisfactory.
“Currently, journalists' salaries range from 13,000 to 20,000 soms, with the maximum reaching approximately 30,000 soms,” she stated.Amanova highlighted that the lack of support for this sector leads to a decline in the quality of materials, a lack of journalistic investigations, and the fading of print media. According to her, society needs professional journalists who work with reliable facts and figures, in contrast to the unreliable content filling the information space.
The deputy called on the government to pay attention to the social issues faced by media workers, emphasizing that support for journalism is a key aspect of information security and the retention of qualified specialists in this field.
