The population pays less than half of the actual cost of electricity – Ministry of Energy

In an interview with the program "Elden Sobol" of the "Kabar" agency, Timur Orozaliev, the director of the Department for Regulation of the Fuel and Energy Complex at the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, stated that the cost of one kilowatt-hour of electricity for 2026 will be 3 som 3 tyiyn.

According to him, starting from May 1 of this year, the existing tariff for the population will be changed from 1 som 37 tyiyn to 1 som 64 tyiyn. This means that even with the increase, the tariff will cover only 45% of the actual cost of electricity.

The Deputy General Director for Commercial Affairs of JSC "NESK" Ulubek Duysho uulu noted that Kyrgyzstan maintains the lowest tariffs among Central Asian countries. He provided comparative data: in Kazakhstan, tariffs range from 4.31 to 5.54 som, in Uzbekistan – from 4.30 to 7.30 som, and in Tajikistan – from 3.16 to 3.60 som.

"Our tariffs are 2-3 times lower than in neighboring countries," concluded Ulubek Duysho uulu.
