According to the president of the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan, Kanat Eshatov, it is expected that prices for fuel and lubricants (GSM) in the country may increase by 3 soms. As reported by the agency "Kabar," this is related to the recent rise in wholesale fuel prices in Russia, where costs have increased by 19%. If Kyrgyz companies begin to purchase and sell fuel at the new prices, the retail price per liter of GSM may rise by 2.5 to 3 soms.
Eshatov explained that fuel prices do not rise instantly. Enterprises cannot simultaneously import a large amount of fuel — each company has its own reserves, which are calculated for one to two months. When a new batch of fuel is introduced, companies take into account the average cost based on existing reserves. As a result, the price may increase by 30 tyiyns in one week and by 40 tyiyns the next. If this trend continues, the cost per liter may rise by 2.5 to 3 soms in the near future,” he added.
