On March 11, the mayor of Osh, Janarbek Akayev, held a meeting with the British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, Nicholas Bowler.
According to the information provided by the mayor's office, the discussion covered aspects of bilateral cooperation, including education, sports, as well as issues related to improving urban infrastructure and expanding investment opportunities.
Akayev expressed interest in establishing mutually beneficial relations with the UK Export Finance (UKEF). In particular, he proposed to consider the possibility of financing the construction of a modern bypass road around the city.
The mayor emphasized that the implementation of this project would allow:
- To reduce traffic congestion within the city.
- To decrease the number of traffic jams on the roads.
- To redirect transit traffic outside the city.
- To enhance road safety.
