The employment process in South Korea begins with signing a contract, which usually lasts for three years, with the possibility of extending it for an additional two years. Esenbek Ergeshov, the head of the Labor Migration Department at the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad, spoke about this on the air of Birinchi Radio.
Candidates wishing to work in South Korea must go through several selection stages. First, online registration and submission of the required documents are necessary. Then, a Korean language proficiency test follows. Those who successfully pass this exam undergo a skill test, during which representatives of the Ministry of Labor of Korea assess the motor skills, professional abilities, and physical fitness of the applicants.
Those who successfully complete all the tests are given the opportunity to enter the official database of the South Korean ministry, from which employers can independently select suitable candidates. However, it is worth noting that the waiting period for a contract in this database can last up to two years and depends on the decisions of the Korean side.
“We recommend carefully reading each section of the employment contract, paying special attention to the living and food conditions, salary amount, contract duration, and the procedure for resolving labor disputes. These recommendations are relevant for employment in any country, including the UK, South Korea, Turkey, and other European states,” emphasizes Ergeshov.
