The mayor of Kemin, the district akim, and his first deputy were present at the site, personally overseeing the work process.
Currently, specialized machinery is being used at the landfill, and active work is underway to clean the area and bury waste.
Kairat Abdyvaliev, the mayor of Kemin, indicated that the area of this site is two hectares.
"For more than 10 years, this landfill has been used for garbage collection. Currently, we are cleaning it, covering it with gravel and soil, preparing for reclamation," he noted.
In addition, the mayor reported on cooperation with Korean investors on a project that involves the construction of a waste recycling and sorting plant. The plant is expected to be launched at the end of this year or early 2027 and will serve the entire Kemin district. The cleaning and filling of this area will be completed within a week.
At the moment, garbage from other districts is temporarily being transported to other sites," he added.
