The opening of the national championship in sports wrestling among boys under 17 years old took place on February 5 at the Palace of Sports named after Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul, as reported by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan.
Present at the ceremony were Ulan Kydyrbaev, the deputy director of the agency, as well as representatives of the Wrestling Federation of Kyrgyzstan, coaches, wrestlers, and their fans.
In his welcoming speech, Ulan Kydyrbaev congratulated the young athletes on the start of the competition, wishing them success and high results. He emphasized the importance of such events for improving the level of sports mastery among youth and forming a reserve for the national team.
As a result of the tournament, athletes who take the top three places will receive medals and diplomas, and will also be included in the national team of Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Asian and World Championships, as well as international tournaments scheduled for 2026.
On the first day of the competition, matches were held among girls under 17 years old in the weight categories: 40, 43, 46, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, and 73 kg.
