MIRACULOUS ORIGIN
In a certain village, there lived a brother and sister. A river flowed near this village. One day, foam appeared on the water. The brother and sister, while bathing, licked it. And from this, the girl conceived. The villagers blamed her brother for what had happened, and for such a grave sin, they killed them and threw their bodies into the river. But even the dead bodies of the brother and sister cried out: "He is pure, and I am pure!"
After some time, forty girls, playing in the water, also licked the foam and also conceived innocently. Thus, the Kyrgyz lineage began.
This happened at one of the Kyrgyz passes, which was later named Kyrk Kyz, meaning forty girls.
In ancient times, forty beautiful girls ascended this pass to gather flowers. But the pass was high and difficult, and snow clouds and blizzards roamed at its very peak. As soon as the girls reached the pass, a terrible snowstorm arose. To avoid freezing and getting lost, the girls huddled together and fell asleep. They were buried in snow. And by the next spring, nothing was found in that place. Since then, when the elders ascend the pass, praying to the east, a snowdrift wanders along the ridge, occasionally taking on the ghostly shapes of women. And a rumble can be heard from beneath the ground, reminiscent of the moans of the perished. When a young hero ascends the pass, everything calms down, and in the silence, the youth is filled with dreams of these forty girls. They were of astonishing beauty.
