PM2.5 are fine particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the atmosphere. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
In the global ranking for air quality and pollution levels as of December 24, Bishkek ranks 6th (as of 5:00 PM).
