PM2.5 refers to microscopic solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. They include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
As of November 24, Bishkek ranks 9th in the world air quality and atmospheric pollution ranking (5:00 PM).
