PM2.5 refers to fine particles smaller than 2.5 microns, with a diameter 30 times smaller than a human hair. They consist of a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These components are responsible for the smog characteristic of large cities.
As of October 27, Bishkek ranks 16th in the world air quality ranking (11:00).
