PM2.5 refers to fine particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than a human hair. They include mixtures of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
