PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns. Their size is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They create the characteristic haze observed in large cities.
As of November 6, Bishkek ranks 6th in the world air quality and pollution level ranking (5:00 PM).
