PM2.5 consists of microscopic particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These particles are a mixture of dust, ash, soot, and chemical compounds such as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to reduced visibility and air pollution in large cities.
As of November 19, Bishkek ranks 14th in the world air pollution ranking (11:00 AM).
