PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, their diameter is 30 times smaller than that of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the air. They are responsible for the characteristic haze typical of large cities.
According to international rankings, as of November 18, Bishkek ranks 11th (5:00 PM) among cities worldwide for air pollution levels.
