PM2.5 refers to solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality, which is typical for large cities.
As of January 14, Bishkek ranks 3rd in the world air quality ranking (5:00 PM).
