PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. It is a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the formation of the characteristic smog that can be observed in large cities.
On a global level, as of November 30, Bishkek ranks 6th (16:00) in air quality and pollution levels.
