PM2.5 consists of fine particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. They include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
In the global air quality ranking as of January 22, Bishkek ranks second (5:00 PM).
