PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the thickness of a human hair. It includes a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances significantly contribute to air pollution characteristic of large cities.
On a global scale regarding air quality and pollution levels, Bishkek ranks 4th (as of 11:00) on January 19.
