PM2.5 consists of fine particles smaller than 2.5 microns, their diameter is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They create a hazy atmosphere characteristic of large megacities.
As of January 13, Bishkek ranks 68th in the world air quality and pollution ranking (5:00 PM).
