PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the thickness of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality, which is typical for large cities.
As of February 7, Bishkek ranks 19th in the world air quality ranking (time 11:00).
