PM2.5 refers to tiny particles less than 2.5 microns in size. Their size is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality, which is characteristic of large cities.
As of January 30, Bishkek ranks 17th in the world city air quality ranking (11:00).
