PM2.5 consists of particles smaller than 2.5 microns, significantly smaller than the diameter of a human hair. They include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the smog characteristic of large cities.
On February 5, 2026, Bishkek ranks 15th in the world air quality ranking (5:00 PM).
