A meeting was held in Bishkek between the Special Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for Mountain Policy, Dinara Kemelova, and Volker Frobarth, the head of the OSCE Program Office. This was reported by the presidential administration.
During the conversation, the parties discussed plans for the current year, as well as the possibility of conducting joint events related to the mountain agenda in various regions of the country.
Particular attention was paid to issues of comprehensive examination of mountain territories in Kyrgyzstan, digitization of collected data, strengthening scientific potential, and coordinating joint initiatives within the framework of the Decade of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions, which will conclude in 2026. In this regard, the holding of the Second Bishkek Global Mountain Summit, scheduled for October 2027, was also discussed.
In conclusion of the meeting, Dinara Kemelova and Volker Frobarth confirmed the importance of cooperation and emphasized the need to institutionalize mountain-related issues within the framework of global climate processes.
