The Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic is taking steps to conclude new import contracts to avoid shortages and sharp increases in food prices. This was announced at a press conference by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Choro Seyitov.

As the deputy minister noted, in the event of a market imbalance, the ministry is ready to respond quickly by increasing supplies of vegetables, fruits, and meat products from other countries.

Meat imports are planned to be carried out from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China. Seyitov also emphasized that in regulating imports, the ministry will strive to maintain a balance of interests.

“We must remember the needs of our farmers, who should be able to produce and sell their products in both domestic and foreign markets. However, our main task is to prevent unjustified price increases for consumers,” he stated.

In addition, to stabilize prices for meat products within the country, the government has already adopted a number of temporary measures limiting the export of livestock and meat. These actions are aimed at saturating the market and keeping prices at an affordable level for the population.
