An important event took place in Kyrgyzstan: the country exported corn to China for the first time. This information was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The first shipment was carried out on March 16, 2026, and amounted to 25 tons. The exporter was a farming enterprise called "Ziyabidin Ata".
As noted by the ministry, this opportunity became available thanks to the implementation of the Protocol regarding phytosanitary requirements for corn exported from the Kyrgyz Republic to China, which was signed on September 15, 2022. The signing of the document involved the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
Currently, two local enterprises hold export rights for corn to China. This step highlights the efforts of the ministry to develop the export potential of the country and comply with international phytosanitary standards.
