According to Sovetbek, he has been breeding fish in a 2-hectare pond for about a year, gaining experience and developing his new venture.
Sovetbek, who works as a driver, emphasizes that he has realized his dream together with his son.
“I am 59 years old. Together with my wife, we raised three children: two daughters and a son. I was born and raised in the village of Korumdu, finished school, and became a driver. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, I got involved in agriculture and animal husbandry. My son Aibek and I dreamed for a long time about a fish farm. In 2025, we acquired a 3-hectare plot of land in our native village and started breeding fish in a 2-hectare pond,” he shared.
Currently, they are breeding four types of fish. According to Aibek Sovetbekov, working in the fish farm requires significant attention and daily labor.
“I am 29 years old, I am a welder. Five years ago, I went to work in Russia. I invested the money I earned into a joint venture with my father — the fish farm. In 2025, we registered the plot and spent over one million soms on building a pond for fish breeding. We purchased carp, grass carp, and silver carp fry from a fish farm in the Chui region. This type of fish is adapted to our climate and feels great both in winter and summer. In spring, one fry weighing about 25 grams reaches 1–1.5 kilograms by autumn. It is very important to monitor the water temperature and the condition of the fish, as breeding requires care and effort. Our key task is to prevent poaching and provide local residents with fish raised in our pond. In the future, if domestic tourism grows, we plan to create a small recreation area and a café,” A. Sovetbekov added.
