On February 4, a telephone conversation took place between Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, and Nurlan Ermekbaev, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
During the discussion, the specialists addressed important issues concerning the current activities of the SCO, especially in light of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the organization in 2026. The discussion also touched upon preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO member countries, which is scheduled for this year.
Kulubaev noted that this summit holds special strategic significance as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the SCO's establishment. In this regard, the minister emphasized the importance of the chairmanship's motto: "25 years of SCO: together for a sustainable world, development, and prosperity."
The minister also highlighted the need to improve the regulatory framework, which will help enhance the organization's effectiveness and qualitatively prepare the substantive part of the summit.
The parties also noted that the anniversary date provides a unique opportunity for a deep analysis of the achieved results and the identification of new directions for the further development of the SCO. The discussion included aspects of implementing joint initiatives in the field of regional security, economic cooperation, and strengthening the organization's institutions.
