In the Aitmatov district, in the Shilbili gorge, numerous petroglyphs have been found.

Eco-activist Gamal Sooronkulov reported this to a Turmush correspondent.

According to him, the gorge and the Shilbili valley are abundant with stones featuring carved images, which are believed to date back to the Bronze Age.

“The petroglyphs depict snow leopards, ibexes, and deer. We assume that there are two different types of petroglyphs in this area, possibly belonging to different eras. This is evident from the style: in one of the images, the ibex is depicted with spiraled horns, which may have a deep philosophical meaning, while the other type is executed differently,” he added.
