Gulumkan Kalchaeva, living in the village of Poltavka, has earned over 100,000 soms by selling flower seedlings at the central market in the Moscow district of the Chui region.

She has been passionate about floriculture since her youth.

“I am originally from the southern regions. Due to family circumstances, we moved to the village of Belovodskoye, and now I live in Poltavka. In our yard, we have a small greenhouse where we grow more than 30 types of flowers. I bring the ready seedlings to the market in Belovodskoye for sale,” Gulumkan shares.

With the approach of spring, there has been an increase in the number of buyers. Prices for seedlings range from 600 to 1500 soms, with azaleas and camellias being the most in demand. Over the three spring months, including March, April, and May, she earns about 400,000 soms, which makes her monthly income over 100,000 soms. “Of course, my husband and children help me a lot,” she adds.

Gulumkan plans to expand her greenhouse, intending to create a flower garden.

“If I receive support from the ayil okmotu, I will be able to develop flower production and improve the infrastructure around,” she noted.

Gulumkan is a mother of four children, and her husband is engaged in farming. They are residents of the village of Poltavka in the Jayil district.
