- On February 23, 2026, the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration held a meeting where the deputies reviewed the draft law "On the Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Border Crossing Points dated December 25, 2003." This protocol was signed on August 22, 2025, in Bishkek.

Deputy Director of the State Border Service Marat Maralbaev presented a report, noting that the changes concern the status of two border crossing points:

- The "Tömönkü-Chüy-road" ("Kamyshanovka-road") and "Kichi-Kapka-road" points will transition from a bilateral to a multilateral (international) regime;

- The operating mode of the "Tömönkü-Chüy-road" ("Kamyschanovka-road") point will change from daytime operation to round-the-clock operation.

According to Maralbaev, these changes will create more favorable conditions for the development of the tourism sector, increase cargo-passenger and tourist flows, as well as improve infrastructure in border areas.

The committee supported the presented draft law in the first reading.
