- The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council has made a decision to provide a tariff exemption concerning the exemption from import customs duties on certain types of beef cattle (BCE) that will be imported into the EAEU countries in 2026.

Import volumes for different countries are: for Armenia – 7,500 tons, for Belarus – 7,500 tons, for Kazakhstan – 5,000 tons, for Kyrgyzstan – 5,000 tons, for Russia – 100,000 tons.

“This measure of customs and tariff regulation is a balanced solution that, due to its targeted nature and the necessity of confirming its purpose, will support the meat processing industry.

Moreover, it will not negatively affect the domestic beef market and will not create additional risks for the implementation of investment projects in the field of beef cattle breeding,” commented EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev.

He also noted that the use of similar tariff exemptions in the past contributed to the availability of meat products for the population and slowed down the growth of consumer prices.

In the context of the traditional meat deficit of BCE in the EAEU countries, supplies from Latin America and India continue to be the main source of compensation for the shortfall.

This decision will come into effect ten calendar days after its official publication and will apply to legal relations arising from January 1, 2026.
