The CSTO expressed serious concern over the massive strikes on Iran

The CSTO Secretariat made an official statement regarding the recent military operation conducted by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory. The organization expressed deep concern over reports of large-scale airstrikes and civilian casualties, which raises serious alarms.

CSTO representatives noted that there is a real threat of further escalation of the conflict and share the anxiety expressed by the UN Secretary-General. They are convinced that it is necessary to immediately return to political negotiations to resolve the current crisis. The statement emphasizes the importance of addressing the situation based on international law and in accordance with the UN Charter.

It is worth recalling that on February 28, a joint offensive operation by the armed forces of the United States and Israel began, targeting government buildings and strategic facilities in Tehran. As a result of the attacks, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Pakpour, and the Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Shamkhani were killed.

On the morning of March 1, Iranian state media confirmed the deaths of their leaders and announced a 40-day mourning period in the country. Currently, the country is being governed by a temporary council, while the international community and organizations continue to express concern over the potential onset of a full-scale war in the region.
