According to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Osh region, a report of the fire was received at the duty station on March 5, 2026. The first fire and rescue unit arrived at the scene at 02:00, and an additional unit was dispatched at 02:24 to provide assistance. A total of two pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The fire was completely extinguished by 03:50. Among the victims were children born in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2023. The youngest of them was not yet three years old.
On the morning of March 5, the akim of the Uzgen district, Kanybek Apbasov, and the head of the Karool rural council, Ruslan Alaychiev, arrived at the scene of the tragedy. The preliminary version of the cause of the fire is a short circuit in the electrical wiring.
Ruslan Alaychiev commented to Turmush that at the time of the tragedy, the children were under the supervision of their grandmother. “The grandmother was sleeping in one room, while the children were in another. The fire started approximately between 2 and 3 a.m. Three of the deceased children were siblings; their parents are currently working abroad and have already left for their homeland. The fourth child was their cousin, whose mother works in Maiyloo-Suu,” Alaychiev explained.
Funeral arrangements for the deceased children are scheduled for the afternoon.
