- In Kyrgyzstan, the acceptance of applications for preferential loans at 3% per annum under the state program for the development of animal husbandry for 2026 has begun. This was announced in an interview with local media by the head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, Pastures, and Feed of the Ministry of Agriculture, Urmat Myrzakhmatov.

According to him, the program is aimed at farmers, breeding farms, and importers engaged in the breeding and import of purebred cattle.

The key condition is that the cattle must be purebred and have the appropriate documentation (breeding card). The loan is issued for a term of 5 years (60 months) with a grace period of six months, during which the borrower is exempt from payments.

“The main goal of this preferential lending is to improve our local livestock through selection using high-yielding purebred animals, both domestic and foreign. We are implementing a policy of transitioning from quantity to quality: a farmer should keep fewer heads but receive significantly more products and profits from them,” said Myrzakhmatov.

According to the head of the department, the relevant government decree dated February 23, 2026, has already come into effect, and banks have started working with clients to establish repayment schedules.
