At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova drew attention to the need for reforms in the judicial system. In her opinion, recent high-profile corruption cases have demonstrated that external forces are interfering in judicial practice.

She noted that the arrests of citizens and hasty verdicts often occurred at the direction of certain curators.

The deputy proposed to consider the possibility of abolishing the practice of curatorship over judges.

President Sadyr Japarov clarified which curators were being referred to, and after his question, it became known that the judges themselves spoke about the influence of employees of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

The head of state confirmed that in the past, such cases occurred when the same officials acted as judges, prosecutors, and police officers.

“Today, such practices have been stopped. I have made it clear: if anyone repeats the mistakes of Manas and Almanbet, they will end up behind bars,” the president emphasized.

In addition, the president added that the SCNS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the prosecutor's office must focus solely on their duties and not interfere in the affairs of citizens.

Kozhokulova expressed hope for real changes in the judicial system.

In response, Japarov assured that work to improve the situation is ongoing, and he personally monitors cases of pressure on judges, calling violators in for discussions.
