On March 17, Almambet Shykmamatov, head of the State Tax Service, gave an interview to "Azattyk," in which he commented on reports of alleged corruption schemes involving Kamchybek Tashiev, the former head of the GKNB, and his entourage.
When asked why the GNS did not conduct an investigation into corruption at "Kyrgyzneftegaz" during Tashiev's tenure, Shykmamatov replied:
“It must be said plainly: 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' was under the complete control of the GKNB. It is known that some tax officials became victims of the GKNB and are currently under arrest. It was impossible to check 'Kyrgyzneftegaz.' Currently, conditions have been created for tax officials to work, and we were able to conduct an investigation. We had a choice: either to hide this or to make it public. We chose the latter,” he noted.
On March 16, the Tax Service presented an investigation in video format titled "Oil for Themselves: How 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' Was Ruined?", which revealed actions contrary to the interests of the state in the process of oil extraction and sales. The video description states that relatives and close associates of the former chairman of the GKNB, Kamchybek Tashiev, are involved in the corruption schemes in the oil extraction sector.
Earlier, on February 10, Sadyr Japarov relieved Kamchybek Tashiev of his duties as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the State Committee for National Security.
