Today, inspectors from the Environmental Supervision Service under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan reported that during a raid on March 23, 300 meters of synthetic fishing nets were lifted from the waters of Issyk-Kul. This length is comparable to three football fields, highlighting the scale of the problem. These illegal nets, acting as invisible traps, have been harming fish and the lake's ecosystem for many years, polluting it with plastic.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds that this work is being carried out in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 131 "On Urgent Measures for the Preservation of the Ecology of Issyk-Kul." The agency emphasizes that the use of synthetic materials for fishing causes irreparable damage to the country's natural resources.

Raids to clean water bodies and combat poaching will be conducted regularly until the lake is completely cleared.
