Vaccination is still considered one of the most effective methods of combating influenza. According to specialists from the Bishkek Health Strengthening Center, safe and tested vaccinations have been successfully used in the healthcare system for over six decades.

According to their data, injectable inactivated influenza vaccines are the most common worldwide. In healthy adults, such vaccination provides reliable protection even when circulating viruses do not match the strains used in the vaccine. In elderly individuals, the effectiveness of vaccination may be lower; however, it significantly reduces the severity of the disease and lowers the risk of complications and death.

The World Health Organization, based on consultations with healthcare workers, recommends annual vaccination for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, children aged 6 months to 5 years, individuals over 65 years old, as well as those suffering from chronic diseases and healthcare workers.

Experts also emphasize the importance of individual protective measures alongside vaccination and antiviral treatment. Such measures include regular hand washing with thorough drying, maintaining respiratory hygiene, timely self-isolation upon the appearance of flu symptoms, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and refraining from touching the face with unwashed hands.
